Our culture’s messaging on intimate relationships is deeply engrained into our beings. We believe that we must find “the one” who will be able to heal our pain, make us happy, and meet all of our needs.

Sadly, this messaging sets us up for anguish and isolation in our intimate relationships. We feel frustration with our partner(s) for not meeting our needs, and shame towards ourselves because we can’t seem to feel contented or good enough.

Our couples therapists use Tony Herbine-Blank’s Intimacy from the Inside Out method (a form of Internal Family Systems Therapy adapted for clinical work with couples) to help couples get curious and compassionate with themselves and each other. Through curiosity, we can understand what early wounds become activated by our partner’s behavior. Through compassion, we can care for and heal that wound so it is no longer vulnerable in the same way. Couples therapy will help you explore new ways to communicate with each other in order to prioritize each other’s safety, while still being heard.

Please contact us if you’d like support for monogamous relationships, non-monogamous relationships, sex therapy, sexual abuse, infidelity, pre-marital therapy, co-parenting, family therapy, friendships, or conflict in other intimate relationships.
